Mellifluous – Finally… i got it!

Posted: October 3, 2010 in Mellifluous

i… finally… got it! i started yesterday morning listening to the remaining songs and considering which song and person i would pray for that day. Over and over the titles of the songs and the individuals who offered them ran through my mind. Nothing stuck. Friday was is the day when we are all gathering together but this Friday someone other than myself would share a word with us and so i began interceding for him. While he is not a part of our Friday gatherings normally, he is a person that i am doing life together with. This day would be his first time speaking before a group.

Every time i would get a break in the activity of the day i would slip into my office and grab a quick listen to one of the songs, still seeking who would be the person to get my focus for the day. By the middle of the day i begin getting texts and emails asking where the meandiam for the day was. As God would have it, i got no peace regarding any song or person except for the guest speaker of the day. i remained calm and waited. Wait for what, i’m not sure, but i can’t fake this. It must be done by the leading of the Holy Spirit or not at all. The emails keep coming and i have no answer for them so what else could i do… i ignored them.

At the end of our gathering the person, our guest speaker puts in a cd and plays a song. Who does that? Coincidence??? i think not! Here i am interceding for him and then he plays a song. He plays a song! Oh, he knew nothing of our Friday song selections from a few weeks ago and he will not even read this blog nor know that on friday he was my assignment but that’s okay with me.

This post did not come in the form of the norm. All the other posts came song first and that led me to whom i was to intercede for. So much for form and function. So much for my preconceived plans on how this was and is to work. Listening!!!! Listening to words! i almost missed the still small voice because it didn’t come from where and when i thought it would.

The song is called Circle Up by Chris Rice. The only words that came to mind while listening to the song are again from a closing portion in Matthew 11 Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.

11_-_Circle_Up

Circle up, circle up around the throne
Old and young saints of every history
Great and small angels are and seraphim
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up, and worship Him

Hear the hum of angel curiosity
The children of the Lord are gathering
Finally the day we’ve all been dreaming of
Called up forever in his love

Circle up, circle up around the throne
Old and young saints of every history
Great and small angels are and seraphim
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him

Hear the thunder of unfolding wings
Feel the mighty wind their beating brings
Bring your grateful tears and flood the floor
Rise up and worship like a storm

Now hear His golden voice above it all
He’s saying this tear is the last to fall
A few simple words and another storm He calms
Invites us all into his arms

Circle up, circle up around the throne
Old and young saints of every history
Great and small angels are and seraphim
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him

Now just before posting this almost twenty-four hours late… so it would seem, i am reminded of 2 Corinthians 2:15 In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.

Now this is a victory parade!!

Circle up, circle up around the throne
Old and young saints of every history
Great and small angels are and seraphim
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him
Grab a hand, twirl a dance, circle up and worship Him
