Just Catch a Glimpse…

If  future generations are to remember us more with gratitude than sorrow, we must  achieve more than just the miracles of technology. We must also leave them a  glimpse of the world as it was created, not just as it looked when we got  through with it.
Lyndon B. Johnson

i closed out yesterday with words from James 1 and got more regarding this verse last night and this morning. The way posting works for me is to have several in the works at some level. It may be only a topic for consideration. It may be a verses. It may be thoughts that i have had that seem to all come together, but i do not have a preconceived commitment to anything each day. It is for the most part spontaneous combustion. Today is an example.

i spend hours preparing each post and when i am finished i click publish. Once it is published, which by the way i am a registered follower and get it when everyone else gets it. i get the email with the pos,t i change roles and become a blog reader versus a writer. As i read it i take notes and highlight things that stand out to me or let me say that stir me from within. i meditate on it and see what else i can get out of it and i do that until i get the next post. One might think that if i am writing the post why don’t i post everything i get. Simple, because i don’t get everything prior to writing especially when i use the Word. There is so much to be gotten from each and every verse that i will never come to the place where i can say i got it all, no need to read this one again.

James 1 is loaded with direction, understanding and action. i could spend the rest of my days in just that chapter. i want to expand on just a portion of James 1:25 and a selected few words because it really encouraged me in my journey.

WHEN ED CATCHES a GLIMPSE of the revealed counsel of God–the free life!-EVEN OUT OF THE CORNER OF HIS EYE, and STICKS WITH IT, he is no distracted scatterbrain but a man or woman of action. Then ed will find delight and affirmation in the action.

When… (at the time or in the event) that ed… (me, i) catches… (intercepts and seizes) a glimpse… (a very brief, passing look, sight, or view, a momentary or slight appearance). Very encouraging because it says, i do not have to have it perfected before the benefit that i am heading toward comes. It only takes me to go over the edge and starting to apply effort and then i will find delight… (a high degree of pleasure or enjoyment and and affirmation… confirmation or ratification of the truth) in the action… (the process or state of acting or of being active).

It says to me that i will learn to enjoy the process versus striving to reach a destination. It reminds and reaffirms to me that there is “Power in the Process to the Promise.” The process is WHEN ED engages, when ed begins or starts, when ed wakes up, when ed gets involved, when ed takes responsibility the process begins and i get paid in advance of completion.

There are a few more words that caught me eye, and STICKS WITH IT! That says that WHEN ed disengages, i bring the process to a halt and there will be no delight or affirmation because there is no action to delight in(there will be no high degree of pleasure, no enjoyment no affirmation, no confirmation or ratification of the truth) in the action, because there is NO action.

Of  this our true individual life, our present life is a glimpse, a fragment, a  hint, and in its best moments a visible beginning. Josiah  Royce
