Stumbling #4…

Proverbs 29:18 (MSG) “If ed can’t see what God is doing, ed stumbles all over himself; but when ed attends to what He reveals, ed is most blessed.”

Stumble: to proceed in a hesitating or blundering manner, to make a slip, mistake, or blunder, especially a sinful one. (i didn’t say it the dictionary did.)

i have shared about “those” days where i feel like i’m in a fog. i’m unable to make a decision. Whether i have or not it feels like every decision i have ever made is a mistake or blunder so why make any more. i know it sounds like i might need medication and don’t think i haven’t thought about it. These days just show up unannounced and ultimately i am unable to find a reason for them. It could be said that if ed can’t see what God is doing he is probably distracted from seeing God by something other than God.

Blessed: divinely or supremely favored, fortunate.

But this verses says MOST blessed.

MOST: in the greatest quantity

It comes back to that decide thing. Do i want to proceed in a hesitating or blundering manner? OR… do i want to proceed with the greatest quantity of divine or supreme favor? God – Human? God – Human?

Isaiah 26:7-8 The path of the righteous is level; you make level the way of the righteous.  In the path of your judgments, O Lord, we wait for you; your name and remembrance are the desire of our soul.

Level: having no part higher than another; having a flat or even surface, equal, as one thing with another or two or more things with one another.

One day can have no part higher than another.  my days can be equal. All my days can be most blessed when i attend to what He reveals. Attending to is more than a passing thought.

Attend: to take care of, minister to, devote one’s services to, to take charge of, watch over, look after.

Righteous: characterized by uprightness or morally right or justifiable. The definition of righteousness is being in right standing with God. When i did Colossians 3 i got a picture of what it looks like to be in right standing with God. Prior to that there was a series about the differences of being a “Disciple” verses a “Christian.”

“attending to” nothing to do with what i’m doing. Cleaning the bathrooms… seeking , mopping the floors… inquiring for, hanging ceiling fans… insistently requiring that i see what God is doing.

As i reposition myself to see what God is doing more often than not, He makes my path more level. As i wait for and hope in Him, His name and remembrance of Him take up a larger portion of me.

i do not regret stumbling, it is a learning experience. Daniel 11:35 says, “and some of the wise shall stumble, so that they may be refined, purified, and made white, until the time of the end, for it still awaits the appointed time.”

In a single word i’ll describe what is happening to me… metamorphosis is taking place. Stand back, wait “patiently,” and for sure, you will see how God ‘s plan for me to, “attend to,” verses “stumbling along” exposes itself at the appointed time.
